It's hard to believe, but 2015 is over halfway over! For those following along on my quest to read 100 books, I have completed 63 so far. So, 37 more books to read in 5 months...7.4 books a month...I can do it! I'm always looking for the next book that is going to pull me in & not let me go. The one that I can barely break away from. There are quite a few books coming out in the next few months that are on my radar. Hopefully, one of my new favorites is among them. Here are the ones that have caught my attention:
Another Day - The companion book to David Levithan's best seller, Every Day, in which the story is told from the point of view of the love interest, Rhiannon. One day, her usually lackluster boyfriend suddenly becomes a person who makes her feel alive...but doesn't remember any of it the next day. Then, a stranger comes along and tells her that her suddenly wonderful boyfriend isn't who she thought that he was.... I read and loved Every Day so I'm intrigued by this companion. Published August 25.
Eileen - In the early 1960s Eileen Dunlop is working at a boy's prison outside of Boston. When Rebecca Saint John comes on as a bright new counselor at the prison, she and Eileen become fast friends. Eileen's affection for Rebecca soon pulls her into complicity in a crime that surpasses her wildest imaginings. Published August 18.
Good on Paper - Shira Green is a permanent temp whose literary ambitions haven't panned out as she had hoped. So, when a Nobel prize winning author asks her to translate his latest work, she thinks that her life may be turning around. However, when she receives the manuscript, she realizes that the work is untranslatable. Published January 26, 2016 - we'll have to wait on this one.
Goodnight Mr. Wodehouse - OK, I'll admit that the adorable vintage illustration on the cover may have influenced my interest in this book! Nell Stillman has struggled to find meaning in an increasingly chaotic world. A complicated marriage, the loss of her child— her road has not been easy. But somehow she manages to find moments of grace, more often than not through the genial voice of P.G. Wodehouse, the beloved British novelist. Good Night, Mr. Wodehouse celebrates the power of great novels. Published September 22.
In a Dark, Dark Wood - A British psychological thriller. I don't think that I need to say more. Nora is invited to the "hen" (bachelorette) party of an old friend that she hasn't spoken to in years. She reluctantly decides to attend the party in an isolated glass house in the English countryside. Soon, the party takes a dark turn.... Published August 4.
