You know how, in the movies & old books, families rent a place at the shore for the summer & just hang out there for the entire season? The place is cute and sort of worn, but it's got a great location and feels like vacation. That's sort of how I'm feeling about our rental. It's cute, in a great location, several items don't work, but it's not our responsiblity! It's such a nice break after a year of slaving to get the house ready for sale. You all know how I love to do things for my home, but I'm really enjoying not having a million outstanding projects in the back of my mind.
We are really looking forward to this summer and our time here. Our landlord has generously provided us with pool passes, which is going to be fun. Several acquaintances have told us that they belong to the pool as well, so we'll be sure to see them often over the summer. In addition, since our rental is in the same neighborhood as our old house, we still have access to the parks & lakeside beach that we've enjoyed in the past.
Being in a place that we like makes me less impatient with the building process. And, things are moving along nicely. We make final decisions on colors, finishes, etc tomorrow (more to come in a future post) and we will be seeing our builder next week for the 'pre-start' meeting. Then ground will be broken for our new home!
